Talk about some luck right? I was just in the OBX last week with great weather. Tropical Storm Arthur is kicking up a storm (HAHAHA) down south heading its way up the coast this weekend. Arthur is a rated at a tropical storm now but come Thursday it will be a Hurricane and as of early Friday morning it will be hitting Cape Hatteras. John and I were fishing out of Cape Hatteras this past week so we consider ourselves lucky to enjoy the family vacation and the good fishing.
North Carolina’s coast may see winds between 74 and 110 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, while inland areas should see only rain and thunderstorms, forecasters predicted.
The Triangle forecast was for a 50-50 chance of rain, with possible heavy thunderstorms, Thursday and 60 percent for Thursday night, but then only 30 percent for the Fourth of July.
“The Outer Banks, they’ll take a little bit of a beating,” said Chris Hohmann, chief meteorologist for ABC11. “It shouldn’t be a devastating hurricane, but a hurricane’s a hurricane.”
The storm could cause rip currents and rough surf throughout Thursday, possibly leading to beach closings, but the coastal weather’s expected to clear into a beautiful weekend as the winds pass on Friday morning.
The offshore dolphin, tuna and sail fish bite has been incredible in OBX. This storm should kick up some debris and lower the water quality causing a slowing down in trolling.
Wishing the best and safety to ride out the storm for all my friends in the OBX. Id like to say I survived a tornado or hurricane some day. OBX seems to get them alot.
