OBX Day One

John and Ryan Setting lines

Day one nothing super exciting to report other than lines are set, good news from the bait shop (go figure) and two bass landed.

John, Suzy and I took a drive to Buxton to visit our friends at Red Drum Tackle and Teachers Lair. We were looking for information on places to hit and also get our fishing license. We got conflicting reports on bay fishing from both shops but both had good things to say about puppy drum and speckle trout hitting in the bay. We are tentatively planning to go off shore Tuesday and Wednesday possibly.  The weather is looking great.

We are going to take a mini trip out and look for Cobia on the beach line tomorrow afternoon.  John wants to do a test run and get comfortable about driving through the inlet.  Its a nasty inlet..

I fished the freshwater ponds around the house this afternoon and caught 2 bass.  One hit on a white wacky worm and the other hit on a worm with a jig head.  I expected fishing to be better but I think the time of the day had alot to do with that.  I saw some carp that were absolutely monsters.  I may target them sometime this week.

Here’s some pics:
