Pennsylvania 

Canonsburg, Lake

Located in Washington County, Canonsburg Lake is a 76-acre impoundment owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the Fish and Boat Commission for public fishing and boating.

FISHING

The Commission stocks Canonsburg Lake with trout. It is designated as: Stocked Trout Waters Open to Year-Round Fishing.

Commonwealth Inland Waters regulations apply for all other species of fish. The Commission historically has stocked the lake with Channel Catfish.

Shore fishing is permitted.

A fishing pier is available for persons with disabilities.

BOATING

Boating is limited to boats powered by electric motors and un-powered boats. One launch ramp is available along with associated parking facilities.

Un-powered boats may be moored at the lake in accordance with Commission property regulations. To be used at the lake, boats must be registered or have a valid launch permit (permits are issued by the Commission or PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources).

Shenango River Lake

Located in Mercer County, Shenango River Lake is one of 16 flood control projects in the Pittsburgh District. The project provides flood protection for the Shenango River Valley as well as for the Beaver and upper Ohio Rivers. Since its completion in 1965, Shenango has prevented more than $173 million in flood damage. The project has the capability to store the equivalent run-off of 10.5 inches of precipitation from its 589 square mile drainage area. Shenango River Lake’s flood control benefits were demonstrated during the June 1972 flooding resulting from Tropical Storm Agnes when over $1.8 million in damages were prevented.  Shenango also provides water releases during dry periods to improve water quality and quantity for domestic and industrial use, recreation and aquatic life.is a 76-acre impoundment owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the Fish and Boat Commission for public fishing and boating.

Our Mission

Promote fishing through education, awareness and bridge the gap to those being introduced into fishing. We specialize educating children and those in special needs about the great fishery in outdoors.
