Rory’s back at it: 4-28-12 Horseshoe Beach, FL Offshore Fishing Report

Huge day on the gulf! Ran out to the AJ hole after catching bait and immediately hooked up. Once we drew them closer to the boat we started throwing topwater plugs. Awesome to see a 30lb AJ flop out of the water and slam a 7″ topwater! As i got the fish close to the boat 2 goliath grouper came up after him and nearly ate it whole. It was like they were playing with it and i was doing everything possible to try and get the fish in. Amazing to see a 6′ long grouper it must have been over 300lbs! Moved from this spot in a little shallower and put out a few trolling plugs. Trolled up a bonito and then 2 gag grouper on one stretch 30 plug! Went back to this spot and anchored up and it was game on. The bonito chunks were the hot bait. Off the water by 2 pm. Beautiful day, flat seas, tight lines. KIR

RF Crew – Get a trip planned! Who knows how much longer i’ll be in FL.
