Montour Run 4/14/12
2012 trout opener is here and a nice ending of a fishy weekend cheers to Mrs. Mother nature. Fishermen set out to PA’s water ways casting lines at 8AM. Some from Montour could hear the RF fire engion call at 8AM heard miles away, other had their alarms set. For RF the 1st cast hit the water with intentions of quick hook ups but we quickly learned we didn’t get to the the right spot to start the day. Knowing at 6:30AM we had made a mistake but the miller lites brought bright lights on the bad fishing to come. We started our day at Montour run fishing the first big hole with a few other fishermen. No fish caught by the team till later morning. Doug and myself later headed to Dutch Fork to fish at the Santiago Sportsman Club with good friends and tons of fish. The beer was cold, the food was warm and tasty! Members Mickey, Ted & the crew were mid day into a succussful trout day and were able to share the success with Doug and myself. Tons of trout were caught along with Doug tieing taking the species lead on the day landed a 5lb carp on a meal worm.
