Pittsburgh Pool – Ohio River – 7/23/23

On the water at 6 am and planned to fish Chartiers Creek from the mouth up as far as I could go but the water was still muddy from heavy rains earlier this week.  The water temps were near 80 degrees throughout the river. I caught 5 smallies on Gitzits and Minnow jig patterns.  A big weed line runs along the bank to about 5ft offshore. This is good to know when the water cools down.

Alternative Line Stripper

If you’ve ever been in a pinch to strip your line the night before a fishing trip, consider this trick to get the line off your reel. Secure your rod and reel to a workbench or something of your choice. Put a empty toliet paper roll onto your electric drill, tape the line to the roll and go to town! You can strip dozens of reels in time it takes you to do one manually.

Good Morning Anglers – lots of rainfall hit our local waterways yesterday prompting cancellations of weekend fishing trips. Today is a good day to clean up your boat or organize your tackle. What do you use to clean your boat. We recently purchased ‪#‎3M‬ Marine Cleaner and Wax and it helped us do the trick. Check how clean I was able to get the boat.
