Rolled out of bed around 7:30am and on my way to the bathroom I glanced out the bedroom window to see storm clouds moving in. Bummer… I was hoping to rip some lips this morning before my afternoon chores. I was thinking a run & gun trip locally and hit some hold holes I used to fish all the time on Chartiers Creek. Since I’ve got the boat I have been neglecting my old fishing spots around home. The weatherman was calling for widely scattered showers and clearing as the day went on. I figured I would give it a shot…why not.
My first stop was in Bridgeville to fish the area near Frosty Valley Golf Course. A old gentlemen was fly fishing in the spot I was hoping to fish. I went upstream and caught two smallies on a plastic craw but rain was moving in.
I packed up my gear and head to the next spout in South Pointe which was a great move. It down poured as soon as I got there but luckily I packed my rain coat and I kept fishing upstream.
Once the rain passed over I really started getting into the smallies. I was shocked that I landed a Rainbow Trout on a wee craw. That would have been the least expected fish to catch in that area around all the shopping carts.
It was one of the better days fishing I’ve had since the last time I said that. Suzy reminded me that today… I always have good days when fishing she said. Truth… but I dont always catch that many fish in 3 hours.
