Laying in bed this morning around 5:30am I could hear the waves crashing and the segauls bitching. I tossed and turned for a solid 20minutes trying to fall back asleep and then I said screw it…  Time to fish.

We got into Nagshead later in the afternoon Saturday after a long 11 hour trip down. We hit traffic along the way and for the most part it was steady one speed of cars through VA into NC.

Back to fishing..

I quickly grabbed up what gear I had easily available and took my creel down to the surf to fish with lures. I threw sting silvers and chastise GULP with jigs.  I didn’t catch anything for the few hours I worked the surf but it was nice fish the sun rise.

I went back in the evening right before High Tide (4:30pm) dodging a storm front that was coming in. Chrissy caught a small pompano right way and I  later caught one aswell on GULP.  Fishing was SLOW and I didn’t see anyone around me catching anything. I talked a few locals that were exiting the beach access way after fishing all day and they said they caught a bunch of pompano and reds. The guy said he lost a something big but had no idea what it was.

I bought Squid, Shrimp and fresh mullet.

I talked to Mickey over text and he said they caught a Spanish mackerel in the morning and a few in the evening.

Tomorrow NOAA is calling for scattered Thundershowers and rain. Humidity is going to be high so I expect lingering storms all day. Tuesday is the same deal so we will see how much fishing I get in the early week with all these storms.

I might swing up to Hatteras to visit the boys one day and fish.

peace out!
