I am beyond thankful for each and every fishing trip I took. This year was my best season on the YAK. The big bass I landed at #Lakearthur is a big reason why.

Quick Tidbit – this bass was landed post-spring spawn and she was still guarding her bed. Notice the red sore on her tail, that happens when a female bass fan debris off her spawn bed.Snapshot of the release

Moving on to many other small trips which were good and sometimes slow. Many fishless trips and days are never fun. You can always learn something on each trip. I came across the Anglr App which has been a blast tracking my trips throughout the year. I invested in the Anglr Bullseye and I am super happy with it. People think initially there is a risk of giving away your prize honey holes to the company but they keep their data as secure as most. You can share trips publically if you want to. Keep in mind I’m not here to make money on products and recommend something I don’t truly care about. If you never heard of it or on the fence.. give it a go!

I started January 2019 the first week with my first Ohio Steelhead. John and I made a trip on the Ohio side steelheads streams and explore.

In February cooch bastard made his debut back to Pittsburgh fishing and we hit some hard water at Dutch Fork Lake. We got skunked and rather disappointing but we had a great time. It just makes this 2020 anticipation build up.

The spring was slow fishing from this picture up to the opening day of trout. Each year it seems to par for the course but it could change if we get good weather in late winter.

April 2019 Opening Day of Trout’ganza. I just made that up but it totally is. To define trout’ganza on a loose meaning, we caught a ton of BIG fish. The SSA stocked some lunker trout and we had a blast. The highlight of the day was Rick going ham and taking species lead.

In early May my Brother Austin & Dad took our yearly trip to Penns Creek which is always a blast. We had sub-par fishing conditions for the second year and a row but made it work. The trip was a dynamic species run with Rainbows, Browns, and Smallies. Austin even caught his first native brookie which is a prize. I love this trip and looking forward to this year’s trip. We plan to pivot in 2020 and go in the late fall in hopes of different water conditions. The spring is too unpredictable in Pennsylvania so a change is welcome. Again Rick displayed his top Angler skills!

June wasn’t a great month for me and I didn’t get out on the water much. Few trips but nothing major after I spent a full week in the hospital. July I rebounded with many trips at the Lake House in Roaming Shores and first trip on the Pontoon Project. This opened the door to some community fishing at the house which was a great time.

July & August were more Yak Trips and more big mouth Bass up at the Lake House. A few trips on the Allegheny River for smallmouths after work. Justin and I got to do our Annual birthday trip which landed us at the lake house. Many of Bass, Crappie and perch were caught on this trip. The highlight of that trip was paddling back to the house in the dark (not safe) and catching bass the whole back to the dock in the dark. It was insane!

September was the yearly trip the OBX which was almost postponed due to the hurricane that hit days before we arrived. Of course, it messed up the fishing and made things really slow. The beach cart looked sweet though!

Following the OBX trip a week after I headed to the southern shores of Maryland to YAK in the salt for my first time. It was a memorable fishing trip with my brother Austin and put a stake in the sand for more trips int the near future. Many stories came out of that trip.

The fall into early winter had more trips on the freshwater rivers and lake house in Roaming Shores. Cooch got out on the YAK for the first time and explored some new waters in Deer Creek

2019 was an EPIC year and before this post I was would have tended to say the worst year of my life for reasons outside of fishing. As I post this and look back at all the trips and fun I had, hard to say it was a bad year?

Let’s do it again! Cheers, 2019!
